I've pretty much always used Everclean unscented and it's been great for clumping and tracks fairly minimally with my current setup. However the last two boxes I've bought have been so dusty and I just don't feel great making my cat dig around in that and I have to wear a mask every time I scoop his box due to the dust!
I've tried a variety of different litters in the past that haven't really worked for some reason or another:
- Corn-based litter - didn't clump very well and my cat was constantly eating it.
- Cassava litter - clumped OK but was really expensive and didn't last very long. The brand I used also had a weird scent that gave me a headache. Same for pea husk litter.
- Wood pellets - we tried a bag of this and seemed to get on OK but would have to buy a whole new litter box to use it efficiently with the sieving, I suspect.
- Non-clumping catsan - to be fair I haven't used this since he was a baby so I don't really remember how we got on. He had a bit of a dicky tummy back then so I found
non-
- clumping litter hard to use because his poos were quite liquid. He now has very solid poops so I could maybe go back to using this again.
Keen to hear what you are using for your cats. I just want there to be less dust :(
