Hi everybody! I’ve been kind of struggling with this and I wanted to see if others had a similar experience when getting an IUD inserted.

I’ve had the Kyleena IUD for 5 years and scheduled for it to be replaced. I opted to stay with Kyleena because my experience has been positive on it and figured it’d be an easier acclimation since my body’s used to it already.

The removal was easy and quick. So we move onto the insertion of my new IUD, which I was prepared for. But then 5 minutes pass…then another…and another and I start getting worried because it was taking way longer than usual and the pain was noticeably worse than when I initially got it. A half hour passes and I’m still clamped and they’re still in there pushing and readjusting my cervix. And at this point, I’m sweating and starting to cry, and I’m asking if they’ve inserted it yet and they say “No, we’re just trying to measure you.”

Eventually, my gyne just gives up and leaves to grab someone else to come in and she then tries to measure my cervix. So even more prodding and pushing. And then decides, huh maybe she’s got a small uterus, and says “let’s just push the iud up there.”

So they force the iud up and then check it for safe measures with an ultra-sound. Only the ultra sound doesn’t look perfect. So they call another person into the room. There are now four individuals in the room with me and they use the internal ultra sound on me so, yet another thing shoved up inside of my body which is already on fire with pain. And they confirm the IUD isn’t properly placed…so they reclamp me and rip it out.

At this point, it’s been 90 minutes of me on this table, feeling the stabbing pains of something pushing into my cervix and I can’t take it anymore. And they tell me they won’t try again and to come back on another day and try then.

I left the office sobbing so hard my fiance was concerned something had happened to me. And it feels like something did, but I also know this process is usually just shit in general.

Has anyone also experienced something like this? I think if I know others also had the same or a similar experience, I might feel less upset over it.
