Got a text last month from a 312 number claiming to be a Special Agent with the Amtrak Inspector General’s Office, saying they needed help with an investigation tied to a trip I took last July and i need to come physically to the Union station. Today I got a follow-up phone call. The voice sounded AI-generated, though it’s hard to tell these days.
I replied to the text asking how they got my number and which exact trip this was about. They responded with the screenshot above, which has real info: my name, phone number, address, travel dates, ticket number, the works.
