Have you ever had to deal with health anxiety?

I’m 23 and I have a few things around my body that I’m sure are benign but my mind panics sometimes and I convince myself I have cancer, it’s a constant loop. Did you ever feel concerned about your health more than usual and how do you deal with it? I never really go to the doctors unless I’m certain I need to get something checked out.

I’m in my twenties and there’s so much death and sadness I see everywhere in life. I also struggle with my own mortality, and I’m just wondering how do people live in uncertainty and be at peace? I constantly worry about cancer and things a find it very hard to naturally feel at peace, I smoke a lot of weed to help me.

Have you or anyone you know ever had cancer? I personally have had a few health scares and I’m only in my twenties, but every time I’m going through it, I turn to alcohol and drugs to cope, because my thoughts about the possibility of my death are just unbearable. I have sisters that I look after and my parents too, so the thought of something happening to me and ruining their lives makes me spiral. What’s your experience with this stuff?

When receiving the unbearable news about a cancer diagnosis, how did you immediately deal with things? And over time how did you process the situation? Is it common for people to turn to alcohol and drugs out of fear?
