Hi everyone,
I have a question about applying to multiple roles within the same large institution, such as a hospital, university, or research organization.
Has anyone applied to several positions in different departments at the same institution — for example, Research Scientist, Clinical Operations, Research Administrator, Project manager, Business development or similar roles?
If so, did HR or a hiring manager ever question why you applied to different types of positions? Did it create any issues or make you seem unfocused?
I’ve heard that in larger institutions, different departments may have separate HR contacts or hiring teams, so I’m trying to understand whether applying broadly across departments is normal or if it could negatively affect my candidacy.
Would love to hear from anyone with HR, recruiting, or applicant experience in this kind of setting.
