Neighbor's sister wants to be a Criminal Lawyer after 12th — parents won't send her to a big city. Need genuine advice.

Salam,

Posting this for someone I know personally so bear with me.

She just finished 12th, really smart girl, wants to do criminal law. Family has money, that's not the issue. Issue is her parents are scared to send her alone to a metro city. They're extra protective in general. Local college options are genuinely bad — people who studied there regret it.

Things I'm hoping someone here can help with —

Is there a way to convince parents like these that their daughter will be safe? Something practical, not just "trust her.".

And if anyone here is actually working in criminal law — please could you give her a rough roadmap? Exams, colleges worth it, how the early years look, realistic timeline. Even a DM is fine.

She has everything it takes. Just needs the right doors to open. JazakAllah khair 🤲

Looking for help for a neighbor's sister (12th pass) wanting to be a Criminal Lawyer — Tier-3 city constraints

Salam everyone,

I'm posting on behalf of my neighbor's sister. She's a genuinely bright and hardworking student who just finished her 12th and has a clear dream — she wants to become a Criminal Lawyer.

The challenge isn't financial. Her family is willing to invest in her education. The challenge is fear.

Her parents are very protective — partly because she'd be going to a big city like Bangalore alone, and partly because they already have a son with autism at home, which naturally makes them more cautious about everything. The idea of sending their daughter to a metro city, far from home, makes them anxious about her safety and lifestyle.

As for local options — the colleges in our city are genuinely not good. My own sibling and brother-in-law studied at what's considered a "top college" here and both regret it. So local isn't really an option if she wants a solid legal career.

I'd really appreciate help on three things:

  1. How can she (or we) help convince her parents she'll be safe in Bangalore?

Any real experiences, reassurances, or practical points that worked for you or someone you know?

  1. Are there ladies-only hostels or law colleges in Bangalore known for strict security and a safe environment?

Something she could show her parents as concrete proof that there are secure, well-monitored options out there.

  1. If you're a practicing Criminal Lawyer — could you guide her with a roadmap?

She's starting from scratch after 12th. A rough path — which entrance exams to target, which colleges are worth it, what the first few years of practice actually look like, how long it realistically takes to build a career in criminal law — would mean the world to her (and to us trying to support her). Even a DM would be hugely appreciated.

She has the drive and the brains. It would be a shame if fear of the unknown is what holds her back from a great future. JazakAllah khair to anyone who can help! 🤲
