I’m sorry if this is the wrong subreddit, I’m just a concerned daughter. Apologies for any language mistakes, english is not my first language.

My mother had surgery about 6 days ago, she said they removed her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Prior to the surgery she said the doctors «were concerned about mysterious cell growth», and decided to remove everything. Not just the uterus.

Post surgery she tells us (her kids) that they had found and removed cancer cells during the procedure, we were not informed of any confirmed cancer cells prior to the surgery.

She left the hospital one day after the surgery. I messaged her today (about 6 days post-op) about when I could visit her. She then told me she’ll be going away to her and my stepdad’s vacation home abroad for 9 days straight, leaving tomorrow ( at 7 days post op)

Due to some personal reasons I don’t fully trust my stepdad, and I fear my mom’s best interest is not of his concern.

Is it normal and safe to travel 3hrs by car, 7 days post-op, to another country for 9 days?

I’ve been researching hysterectomies this week, trying to put together a care package I meant to bring her this weekend. My impression was that it’s an invasive procedure, and I wasn’t expecting her to be going to her vacation home so soon. It just doesn’t seem comfortable to be riding in a car for 3 hours so soon, and then spend 9 days far away from the hospital should anything happen.

(I should mention that my step dad has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. My mom has not told us (her kids) this yet, only one other family member that told me.
After the surgery, said family member told me that my mom was more concerned and only talked about his diabetes, not her having half her organs scooped out with confirmed cancer cells.)

I’m worried she undermines her own pain in favor of what my stepdad wants and that this could lead to complications not caught in time.

I just want to know if it’s safe for her to be abroad, away from the hospital for so long, so early.

I’m sorry I don’t have any further details, she’s been vague about the process. Probably not wanting us to worry, ironically I’m even more worried.
(Also, we’re in scandinavia. So going abroad is just a short car ride usually. She was given 4 weeks healing time off work.)

Am I overthinking it, or is it insane to go on vacation 7 days post-op to another country ?? My piercings took longer to heal for christ’s sake
