My father-in-law is a retired academic with a passion for jazz and a collection of 2,000+ vinyl albums. For many years he hosted a weekly jazz program for a major public radio station. His health is now in decline and he's asking us for help to place the collection.

The collection has not been cataloged, but consists mostly of releases from the 60s to 90s. He'd like to see it go to an academic institution and would appreciate some small recognition (he mentioned possibly a plaque to be installed with the collection). He wants to use it as a tax write off but otherwise not seeking compensation.

It has definitely not been picked over and may contain some desirable specimens. We want to place it somewhere where it is not going to be immediately picked over, with the bulk discarded.

Feel free to comment/DM me with serious inquiries or suggestions on places to reach out to. Please no private collectors - we're looking for an educational institution or nonprofit.

My gf's 16-year-old niece is coming to visit next month. We're old-ish and childless and not sure how best to help her experience Austin. First choice is for things we can enjoy together, second is for things we could drop her off to do without worrying about her safety. We're longtime Austinites so we likely know the most obvious/iconic destinations, but we don't know what we don't know about less obvious choices. Thanks for any suggestions!
