I’ve got a pretty big gap right now between my 5i (~195yds) and driver (~260yds). Driver is a 2013 Callaway X Hot and my irons are Callaway Rogues (not sure what year).

I'm looking to fill that gap with a 4H / 7W / 5W / 3W. I likely wouldn't be getting all 4 but some combination of the bunch.

Is it realistic to find a halfway decent option around $60 used? I’ve seen some Callaway X Hot 4 hybrids pop up for ~$50, which got me thinking, are there other used models people recommend in that same price range?

Open to any suggestions on what’s worth hunting for.

Trying to decide on wedge setup and looking for feedback. I know this is going to be very much personal preference but am still interested in the results.

I am looking into getting new wedges, I currently have and am keeping my 44° pitching wedge (~135 yards) and a 56° wedge (~90 yards). I’m trying to figure out what makes the most sense for filling the gap in between.

My current carry estimates:
44° (PW): 135
48°: ~120–125
50°: ~115–120
52°: ~105–110
56°: ~90

I’m debating between two setups to bridge the gap:
Option 1: 44° / 48° / 52° / 56°
Option 2: 44° / 50° / 56°

I’m trying to figure out if the extra gapping and shot options with 3 wedges is worth it, or if a simpler 2-wedge setup is better for consistency and less overthinking of what club to hit.

If you’ve played either setup, what did you go with and why? Did you prefer tighter yardage gaps or keeping things simple and relying more on partial shots?

From what I understand, both clubs go fairly similar distances depending on the player. I’m only planning to carry one of them, so I’m curious what others prefer and why.

If you’ve had both in your bag, which one did you end up sticking with? What made you choose it over the other: consistency, versatility, confidence, typical course conditions, etc.?

For context, I don't have a club between 5 iron (200 yards) and Driver and I’m just trying to tighten up my long game and prevent overlap.

Edit: I appreciate all the feedback, received way more responses than I thought so figured I would ask Chat GPT to summarize the findings in case others have a similar question in the future:

🟢 7-Wood (majority opinion)
Most commenters leaned 7W as the easier, more consistent club.
Common reasons:
Much easier to hit consistently than a hybrid
Higher launch + softer landing (better for holding greens)
Great from fairway and even light rough
Very straight / forgiving miss pattern
Often becomes a “favorite club” or most confident long club
Overall sentiment:
A lot of people said they switched from hybrid → 7W and didn’t go back.

🔵 Hybrid (smaller but strong group)
Still plenty of support for hybrids, especially for specific conditions.
Common reasons:
Better out of thick rough / bad lies
Lower, more controlled ball flight (better in wind)
Easier to “punch” or keep under tree branches
Shorter shaft = more control for some players
More versatile in trouble situations
Overall sentiment:
More of a “utility” or “problem-solving” club.

🟡 Both / depends (very common theme among better players)
A lot of experienced players said they carry both or wish they could.
Key idea:
7W = high, soft, green-stopping shots
Hybrid = lower flight, rollout, and rough/utility shots
Club choice depends on lie, wind, and course setup

📊 Final takeaway from the thread:
7W was the most commonly preferred single option
Hybrid was preferred in specific conditions (wind/rough/control)
Best players / most detailed replies almost always said: “they do different jobs”

🧠 TL;DR:
If you want simplicity + forgiveness → 7W
If you want versatility in bad lies + wind control → Hybrid
If you want the “best setup” → many end up eventually carrying both
