Hi,
I am totally at a loss for what to do with the literal truckload of coins my uncle has left me. He spent 30 years collecting Canadian Mint coins and sets. Everything is boxed and unopened. Uncirculated old paper notes to major Canadian event commemorative coin sets (expo 86, Canadian Open, Grey Cups, Historical events, Indigenous figures). It is actually an overwhelming amount.
My family and I have already taken the pieces we want to keep for sentimental purposes but I am lost when it comes to what to do with the rest. I am not a collector and do not have the space to keep his collection. I will have to sell it, and I am hoping that someone here can give me a little advice on the best route. A coin shop? There are a few in Vancouver, where I live. An auction? How I assess the value besides googling thousands of individual coins would be great.
Anyone know where I should start attempting to figure out a value?
