Lip paresthesia 2 years following mucocele procedure
Hi, I had a mucocele surgically removed two years ago, in June of 2024. I still have lingering paresthesia on my lower left lip. I can talk normal, chew normal - but I always feel it there. I had a follow-up appointment with my oral surgeon in January this year, he looked at it and did a couple 'tapping' nerve tests below both sides of my lip, and said that "objectively" it appears to have healed fine. There doesn't appear to be any residual scar tissue.
I'm wondering what the outlook is for the paresthesia to eventually go away? From what I've read online, I'll continue to get used to it over time/years, but I wonder if anyone has experience with lip paresthesia after 2 years, that eventually goes away.
There's nothing really I can do at this stage... I spoke to family doctor, a second opinion from another oral surgeon isn't going to do much. So I'm just looking to ask others who may have similarly had to deal with this, for a sense of hope!
