I’ll be moving to Theni soon from Kerala, and while I’m excited about the change, I’m also quite concerned about safety as I’ll most likely be living alone.
I’d really appreciate honest insights, especially from women or anyone familiar with the area:
Is Theni safe for a woman to live alone?
Are there specific areas or neighbourhoods that are considered safer and more suitable? Or places I should avoid?
How is it in terms of safety at night, public transport, and general day-to-day movement?
What are the transportation options like (buses, autos, cabs)? Are they reliable and safe, especially for daily commute and late evenings?
Any precautions you’d strongly recommend for someone new to the place?
Good and safe areas to stay (budget-friendly but secure)?
Food options that are clean and reliable?
What the local community is like, and how easy it is to settle in?
I don’t speak fluent Tamil yet (I’m planning to learn), so I’d also like to know how manageable that is in the beginning.
