Hi DIY-ers. I wanted to get some advice. We have a metal 1940s-era kitchen in our new-to-us home. The cabinets needed a bit of a refresh, so we decided to go with a fresh coat of paint on the cabinets. At Lowe’s, the guy recommended the Valspar Furniture and Cabinet satin-finish paint for our metal cabinets, stating that we’d need a good sand and then two coats, no primer needed. We cleaned well and sanded with an electric sander and then cleaned again before painting. We had a flat, clean surface to work on and applied two coats over two days. It’s now been a week and the cabinets are really chalky feeling and show every bit of dust/debris. All the nooks and crannies took us FOREVER, so I really dread the idea that we may have to start over. Has anyone encountered anything similar before or have any recommendations? Thanks!
