I have had a student; he is on the younger side to what I usually teach. He is a good kid, very respectful and enthusiastic. But I feel like he has focus periods. Like, he is on his good performance around exams and rest, he is just "present".
I try to engage my students as much as I can because I want them to have a good time learning and not find learning tedious.
Recently, he has stopped turning on his camera, and every time I ask him something, as to do like a quick viva or check if he remembers something, he will repeat what i just asked and answer it. I ignored it initially, but it became more and more clear to me that these are not his answers. The constant typing noises, his attention is never with me, and I have to repeat myself over and over again (which I have not minded but I'm just repeating my questions for him, and not content).
All of that had led me to believe he is just using these new apps that screen share and record questions and answer them. I was certain when one day I asked him something he is not even supposed to know being his grade and age. He repeated what I said and then answered me.
How do I address this? How do I explain to him that I hear him typing on his keyboard. Or how do I ask him politely that he needs to turn his camera on, when he refuses to.
Has anyone else had this case?
I know its his class and his money, but I feel like I have responsibility towards him. His parents want him to score good on his exams coming up in the summers.
