Hi, so I've become a cinephile in the last 3 years and live in Melbourne. I would LOVE to attend MIFF this year but am a little confused as to how it works. Therefore, I have some questions for people that have attended before:
I am still in school, the event does not run during school holidays (😢), so I'm wondering if it's possible to see the films you still want to see if you only have afternoons, evenings and weekends to see them.
I understand that if you buy a pass, it has 12 tickets in it. Does that mean 12 films?? Can it also be used between two people that see, for example, 6 films each or six films together?? Or do you have to purchase a pass for each person?
I'm under 18, so can I legally hold and use a MIFF pass or ticket, provided I do not see anything rated R18+?
Do I have to have an adult (my parents) with me for every film I see or can I be given entry to any film rated under R18+ unsupervised??
How does the ticket purchase work when you have a pass, I've heard there's an app but how does that work?? Is it like Venice Film Festival, where I've heard you go somewhere every couple of days and "buy" your tickets??
And does anyone know what day of July (approximately) tickets go on sale so I can plan a little better?
Thank you so much for your help and of course any tips and tricks are appreciated!
