Hi everyone,

I (29M) recently applied for a Canada visitor visa from India along with my wife, and both our applications were refused. I’m trying to understand what went wrong and how to improve before reapplying.

Application Submitted : 1st April 2026
Biometric Submitted : 8th April 2026
Update on Visa Application : Rejected on 26th April 2026

My profile:

  • Indian citizen (based in Maharashtra)
  • Employed with a MNC
  • Applied with my wife (she is a homemaker)
  • Purpose: Visit my maternal aunt (Canadian citizen) + short tourism
  • Travel dates: 15 July 2026 – 5 August 2026 (~21 days)
  • Staying with my aunt (invitation letter + her docs provided utility bills, passport)
  • I was covering all travel and personal expenses

Financials:

  • Bank balance: ~12 lakh INR
  • Investments: ~22.5 lakh (MF + equities) INR
  • Flat Property shown under my name
  • ITRs, bank statements, investment proofs all submitted

Ties to India:

  • Full-time employment + approved leave (specifically mentioning travel dates and will be back to office on 6th August 2026)
  • Parents in India (submitted ID proofs)
  • Property + financial assets
  • Married (applied with spouse)

Previous history:

  • I had one prior refusal in 2018 (mentioned in application - reason was previous travel history)

Refusal reasons:

  • Not satisfied I will leave Canada at the end of my stay (IRPR 179(b))
  • Lack of significant family ties outside Canada
  • Purpose of visit not consistent with a temporary stay

I’m a bit confused because I thought my financials and documentation were strong, but it seems like the officer wasn’t convinced about my intent to return although I have a job here.

Would really appreciate advice on:

  1. How can I better demonstrate “strong ties” to India?
  2. What exactly makes a “purpose of visit” convincing for TRV?
  3. Any specific changes that have helped others get approved after a similar refusal?

Happy to share more details if needed. Just want to make sure I don’t repeat the same mistakes. Also, is there any way to check official approval rate of visitor visa for Indians?

Thanks in advance 🙏
