In order to understand what makes the coin valuable there are several components that goes into the equation. Of course desirability and number of collectors chasing it makes a big difference. The mintage is a key component. However many times people do not consider grading population in determining the value. Just because the coin is high mintage it does not mean the high grades are easily obtained. Morgan dollars were minted by millions but high grade examples are very scarce and expensive as they were simply not looked at and cared for from the collector perspective. Many Libertad dates, although high in mintage, have hardly any high grade coins. I put together this table with focus on grading at NGC in mind. You can do the same for PCGS if you have time and desire. The table is sorted by grade rarity and date and does not consider mintages. It may not make any difference to the stackers who do not care about graded coins but for those who participate in the registry the only way to achieve a high grade set is to have the coins with high grade and corresponding high number of points. Just something to consider if you have an interest in assembling a high grade registry set, as some coins only have 1-2 in Top Pop for a specific set of dates. Enjoy and happy hunting
