If the title didn't make enough sense, I am struggling to understand exactly what I should and should not be referencing. This is in relation to Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. I lost marks on my first assignment, because my references were "not all ideal or appropriate". I did use the World History Encyclopedia for one, which I understand is obviously not peer reviewed. But I wasn't aware that references like that were bad. In researching for my next essay, I am doubting everything. Can I use university theses? One of my sources was journal published but not by Egyptologists. My current topic is more niche, so it's very hard to find specifically sources from historians. I have been using google scholar for most things too :(
Any advice, suggestions or sites would be greatly appreciated.
