Debated this for a long time before spending on PR. Finally ran it properly and tracked results. Sharing in case it helps others.

What actually moved the needle for us:

  • Tier 1 tech placements (TechCrunch, VentureBeat, Forbes): Noticeable spikes in inbound trial signups and direct mentions from investors in calls. Hard to quantify but real.
  • Trade media in our vertical: This was underrated. Our buyers read specific industry publications. A placement there drove qualified leads more than a general tech article.
  • Thought leadership bylines: Slower burn, but our CEO being quoted or published in relevant outlets improved email response rates in outbound noticeably over time.
  • Wire releases alone: Effectively zero ROI. Stopped doing these.

The agency I am using is Venture PR. They only do earned media. No pay-to-play, no wire padding. Built for B2B SaaS, AI, and tech companies.
