Hi everyone,

I’m genuinely trying to understand how people find a normal long-term apartment in Málaga.

I’ve been searching every day for almost two weeks. I’m looking for a place for me and my girlfriend, ideally under €1,000/month, not a room, not a shared flat, not a tiny studio if possible.

So far the situation looks insane:

-90% of the listings I contact look like scams.
-Most “landlords” suddenly live in another country, ask for email, send fake platforms, or want a deposit before any viewing.
-Almost every real estate agent asks for a full month’s commission from the tenant.
-On Idealista, most people simply don’t reply.
Calling is difficult because I don’t speak Spanish.

So my honest question is: how are people actually finding apartments here?

Is it basically impossible under €1,000 in Málaga now?

I’m not looking for luxury. I just need a reliable place to live with my girlfriend and avoid getting scammed.

Any real advice would be appreciated.
