Mobile detailing in direct sun — how do you safely cool down the car before working?
Hi everyone, quick question for those doing mobile detailing in sunny conditions.
I work with a 3x3 pop-up canopy with side walls that I adjust depending on the direction of the sun, but sometimes the car is still pretty hot after sitting outside.
What’s your process for safely preparing the vehicle before starting?
Do you rinse the whole car first with cold water to cool the panels down?
Is there any risk of thermal shock to the paint or glass if the surface is very hot?
How long do you usually wait before starting a contact wash, decon, or polishing?
Do you keep the side walls closed fully, or only on the sun-facing side for airflow?
Any other tricks for managing heat and water spotting during mobile jobs in direct sunlight?
Would appreciate advice from experienced mobile detailers. Thanks!
