I’ve lived on Oahu for quite a bit, been to Maui/Kauai once. Never made it out to Big Island. I have like 3 days off work and was wondering if I should do a short visit (I’m moving next month). I also have family coming to see Hawaii for the first time, and when they visit I’ll have over a week to spend time with them. We’re planning on staying on Oahu, but my question is, should I do a short visit to BI by myself… or do an extended full BI trip with first time Hawaii family visitors?

I’d also love some recommendations. Huge into surfing, hiking, of course love all scenic beaches etc.

Long time Oahu resident and I’m about to move off island to the west coast. I have some time off from my current gig, and was wondering… I’ve never been to the Big Island, and I’ve never been to Japan. Which would be a more enjoyable solo trip overall?
