About 10-15 years ago, I saw a YouTube video reviewing an older Japanese game (it was possibly another Asian country, but I'm 90% sure it was Japanese) in an 8 bit style. The main character was a young schoolboy who had to fight monsters. It was a platformer game where you mostly avoid enemies but could spam a simple attack with a button.

This game was either a joke or really poorly made, because it was AWFULLY translated into English and some of the monsters had 1) nonsensical names, 2) were of weird objects like flying socks and other inanimate objects, or 3) were unidentifiable pixellated blobs. The themes of each level ranged from making sense and having the appropriate monsters to go in it... to being completely random and having unintelligble design.

To clarify, most of the game didn't make sense in terms of monster and level design, but here WERE a handful of enemies who were "real" monsters. There was a level where I want to say the monsters were vampires and bats in a haunted mansion.

The game also had cutscenes where a bar would pop up at the bottom with dialogue and a sprite of the character talking. The beginning cutscene is of the boy getting sucked into a portal (?) into another world where he has to fight. I remember he says "ahhhhhh!" with many h's because the guy reviewing the game says he always reads "ahhh" with many h'a as a sigh instead of a scream. I think the boy also had something to do with baseball. Idk if he played baseball or used a baseball bat to hit enemies, but it was something like that.

The end cutscene is of the boy waking up in bed and realizing everything was a dream.

I always thought the review was some kind of AVGN or Vinesauce video, or someone related to those sides of YouTube, idk. Unfortunately I can't find it no matter what I look up. I was a kid when I saw the review and it wasn't from a YouTuber that I ever watched otherwise so I can't say what YouTubers of the time would make content like that. I only remember coming back to it a few times because I thought it was funny. It was definitely just something that came up on my home page after watching through CavemanFilms bad/disturbing games series... so I might have been looking at other people play Pumpkinland or Revenge of the Sunfish, and gotten a recommendation for this game?

I want to say the review was a longer video, in the 30-40 minutes long range. I'm genuinely just looking for the video game, but if someone can find the review associated I would be grateful. I'm also including that information because I think it could be useful to help search for it.
