I get the disability pension, and my lease is ending so i'm looking for a new rental, it seems like prices for a single room in a share house are starting at 320-350/week... that's 50% of my pension which I know is substantially higher than other centrelink payments.

A year ago I was paying $340/week for a 2bed... but I can't even find a self contained studio or 1bed below 350/week atm, and even if I can budget it with food bank assistance I really doubt anyone is going to rent to me at over 50% of my income.

Why is the business exempt from prosecution for theft, and the only recourse you have as the victim is the sue in small claims court for value of what was taken to be returned. Why is there no option to criminally prosecute the theif?

Serious answers only please.
