Is it the light, is it the heat?

Something is definitely making the flowers bloom early just under and around the landscape path lights.

Very unusual!

Azaleas in the Forest Garden

The North side of the house is typically the shadier side in the Cascadian region (PNW) where the sun travels across the southern sky in Summer.

Thus, the shadier conditions encourage forest style species such as ferns and rhododendrons, azaleas and ajuga, hydrangeas and salal. Eventually the western red cedars on either side of the forest walk will shade and frame it with proper enclosure.

This is part of a landscape design/build project in Oregon.
