A funny thing I noticed about the New Bostin ambush

It’s ironic that after all the horrible things John did at New Bostin, the thing that ultimately got him expelled and detained was probably the most understandable thing he did there: how he reacted during the ambush.
If you actually look at the situation, John was lured out to the middle of nowhere, most likely because there wouldn’t be any school authorities around to interfere. Then he was jumped and ganged up on by a huge group of students. He wasn’t even the one who started the fight.
Even if we assume every single student there was some innocent victim of John’s bullying, which I absolutely refuse to believe, considering a lot of stronger students were probably there too, and we know exactly how people like that tend to act in this world, the fact remains that John was still being attacked by a mob. He had every right to go all out to defend himself, no matter how brutal it got. I honestly don’t think there’s much of an argument that he “went too far” in that specific situation. The only person he arguably shouldn’t have hurt was Claire, because John knew she was powerless and couldn’t really threaten him even if she wanted to.
That’s why it’s funny that this incident ended up being John’s downfall. But honestly, that’s not even the weirdest part.
Adrion’s actions during the whole thing make very little sense too. Claire straight-up says that Adrion followed John to the ambush site, which makes sense because it’s the only way he could’ve gotten there. Zirian obviously wouldn’t have brought Adrion along, and Claire’s letter was only read by John.
So Adrion knowingly followed John into the middle of nowhere while being aware that Claire and Zirian were planning to take him down. Then he watched an entire mob gang up on and attack John, yet apparently it never occurred to him to call the authorities at that point. Instead, he only calls them after John’s rampage is basically over, meaning he wasn’t preventing more violence anymore and he calls the authorities on John for defending himself rather than the people who initiated the ambush in the first place.
It’s honestly fucking hilarious.
