no bootable device? what?
similar to this, but its kubuntu flavored. basically, i got this old laptop (Dell Lattitude 5580, BIOS is at v1.39) i bought off ebay for the sole purpose of being my backup computer in-case something about my desktop goes bad (hardware failure (natural/over-time or power surge gone wrong), software fuckup, aliens, etc....). now it can use Windows 10 (has the stickers on the back and everything), but i've messed around with various linux flavors in VM's long enough that i feel like giving it a go, so i grab the 1 TB WD_Blue 2.5" laptop-sized HDD i was using for a PS3 (have long since chosen to sunset the console) a while back, and put it in the laptop, made sure my laptop was set to UFEI mode (secure boot turned off, fastboot set to Thorough(which i guess is considered the "Off" mode on different laptops/desktops?), and i had a bootable Ventoy usb done up (partition table set as GPT) with the kubuntu iso inside. booted it up, did the thing, and installed kubuntu to the 1 TB drive. i made sure to confirm that the hard drive was GPT formatted, all the partitions looked normal enough, then i shut the laptop down, removed the usb, and booted it up.....and i got a "no bootable device found, press key to reboot"
i am at a loss on what to do next to get this to boot right. it was easier to do this with a VM, but if i end up choosing to make my desktop either a dual-boot setup, or switch from Windows (desktop) to Kubuntu (desktop) or any other possible linux flavor, then who's to say i won't run into this problem as well?
.....sooooo.....wat do? halp pls?
