First successful handling session with my Leachie

Tonight I finally picked up my male Mount Khogi Leachie “Ludwig” (around 1.5 years old) for the first time.
He definitely wasn’t thrilled when I first lifted him 😅

But interestingly:
no aggression
no biting
no puffing/huffing
no panic jumping
It was more like:
“uhh… what exactly are you doing with me?”

Once he was actually on my hand he became surprisingly calm and just sat there while I took a few quick photos.
I also weighed him for the first time and apparently he’s around 130 g now, which honestly surprised me quite a bit.
After a couple minutes I put him straight back into the enclosure, gave him fresh food/water and left him alone for the night.

Honestly really happy with how it went 😌

Hey everyone,
I have a male Mount Khogi Leachie (“Ludwig”), around 1.5 years old, and he’s been with me for about a month now.

Overall he’s doing great:
- eating very well
- active and exploring every night
- drinking regularly
- normal stools
Behavior-wise he’s still a bit cautious around me:
sometimes curious and watches me
but usually retreats if I get too close
no aggression or biting though
I’ve been taking a very slow approach:
- sitting near the enclosure
- putting my hand inside without touching him
- no forced handling

How did you approach handling/trust-building with your Leachies?
Any specific things that worked well for you?
