Hey guys, I wanted some advice on which undergrad I should choose for med/dental path because I’m rly conflicted :)
Mac ls
Pros:
- heard upper years are much lighter in terms of being able to take more elective?
- closer to home (I’m close with a hospital volunteer supervisor at the hospital I live near and could have more volunteer opportunities lined up)
- could fulfil dental prereqs without using up elective space on top of required social sci courses that I would have to do for whs
- can take hs courses in upper years??
Cons:
- first year… (physics and calc aren’t exactly my strong suit)
- I heard the class averages can be quite low
Western hs
Pros:
- ppl say hs courses can be much easier if you prefer social sci stuff (which I think I may find easier)
- just hs being more gpa friendly in general? Not sure though
Cons:
- further from home (volunteer thingy)
- a lot of work is curved down because the program wants to maintain lower avgs?
- subjective marking?
- I’d have to take required courses on top of dental prereqs and courses that benefit me for mcat, so possibly less elective space
Sorry for the long and maybe overwritten post. It may seem like Mac has more pros but mandatory calc and physics is kinda a heavily weighted con so idk.
