Context: about to start a new role as a graduate (London, UK) in private banking at a large bank, specifically in the private banking arm (think JPM, Citi, Barclays, MS, DB Private Banking arm).
The graduate programme is designed to be rotational for its duration, then after the programme concludes I will be due to interview and specialise within a specific area on the floor.

The floor is pretty diverse AFAIK - popular roles of include the private banker, relationship manager (international/domestic), portfolio manager (discretionary/execution only), product specialists (eg private assets, funds, structured products etc), investment advisors, credit/lending and so on.

My question is - which of these specialisations are best to hone in on, if my aim was to maximise my potential earnings within the PB/wealth space, and considering the skill sets I’d gain that could potentially help with exit opportunities. As an individual, my best attributes defo lie within sales/interpersonal skills but I am also commercially tapped in and willing to develop and exercise hard skills. I am expecting to soon sit my CFA L2 for greater context.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Would love to hear thoughts and experiences
