From NEET Attempts to MBA Aspirant — Need Honest Guidance 🙏

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my journey and get some real advice because I feel a bit lost right now.

I scored 85.8% in 10th grade. I never really liked maths, but ironically, it was my highest-scoring subject. Still, I doubted whether I could handle maths in 11th–12th, but like many others, I associated science with a high income and a better life, so I chose PCB and started preparing for NEET.

I gave NEET three times (2024, 2025, 2026), but unfortunately couldn’t make it.

I passed 12th at 17 (in 2024), and instead of taking a full drop, I took a partial drop and joined BSc (Zoology, Botany, Chemistry). I scored 6.1 CGPA in my first year. My 2nd year exams are next month, and I’m expecting improvement now that NEET is no longer in the picture.

Now I’ve accepted that medicine is not for me.

A bit about my background:

I’m 19 years old

My father passed away before I was born

My family consists of just me and my mother

She works as an AWC employee

I belong to the EWS category

Most of my relatives are government employees, so my mom prefers I go for a stable govt job (like a teacher), but I’m not fully inclined towards that

I don’t have a very strong profile yet—just some quiz certificates—but I do freelance video editing, which is something I genuinely enjoy.

At this point, I want a good life and financial stability, and I’ve decided to aim for an MBA.

I’ll likely enter 3rd year of BSc in the next couple of months and graduate around the age of 20.5, so I feel like I still have time on my side.

About my skills:

I’m decent in maths, especially basics, graphs, and logical thinking

Preparing for NEET (Physics & Chemistry) has helped me develop better problem-solving and analytical ability, so I feel I might have an edge over typical non-maths/arts backgrounds in terms of logic

I’m weak in English, which I know I need to improve

Biology background, so zero exposure to commerce/business concepts

But honestly, I’m completely clueless about:

What CAT actually demands

How difficult it really is

What a realistic preparation strategy looks like

How much time I should study daily (I’ve heard everything from 2 hours to 8 hours)

What the full MBA admission process looks like (CAT, GD/PI, profile, etc.)

I have about 1.5 years for CAT 2027, which aligns with my graduation timeline.

What I really need is:

A clear roadmap from scratch

What to study (subjects/topics)

How to study (strategy, daily routine)

Best resources (free/paid)

How to build my profile from now

Mistakes to avoid

And realistically, what my chances could look like

I’m willing to work hard—I just don’t want to waste time in the wrong direction again.

Any guidance, especially from people who’ve been in a similar situation, would mean a lot 🙏
