Did I mess up?
I'm an F2 on a busy rotation, unfortunately I've had to take a few days sick leave this week, some of these being nights, I rung everyday to let the rota team know and the original person I spoke to said to call/email everyday to update them, I planned to attend my shift yesterday however woke up still feeling rubbish so sent an email then rang (after sending the email but no reply) in the afternoon (around 7 hours before the shift started). I got an email back from rota team after about 15 minutes saying it is highly highly unacceptable, that I did not follow proper protocol by not calling and that they may not have time to find cover as they finish work in twenty minutes (I did not know this, I thought they had 2 hours left) and have CC'd in my CS and other consultants. I'm generally a very anxious person so triggered a bit of a panic attack, I then tried to ring again (no answer) and then did get through + offered to try and do the shift by taking pain killers etc if they can't find cover but they said they'd sorted it and did not sound happy with me at all.
I'm now so worried I will get in trouble with my ES/the department and additionaly the rota people are who controls locums, it's widely known that if they like you you'll get locums- I'm unemployed next year and was relying on locumming but now I'm in their bad books I'm so worried I'll have no work for the entire year :( Has anyone else had that experience?
This will be the second sickness i've had this year so now I'm also worried that i'll get sick again on this rotation.. I've had 8 days off so far in F2 for LRTI and now this
