After deciding a few months ago I was sick of avoiding flying and missing out on seeing old friends and new places, I decided to really work on it and booked two trips for this month. Just completed the first which had my two first (short) flights in over 25 years. It was tough, but I did it and the second flight was definitely a bit easier. Thanks to everyone here for your valuable advice, reassurance, and good info. It's been very helpful to not feel alone with this challenge. If you've been struggling with this, as I have for years, you can do it! You might need a little help (I've been working with a CBT therapist on my anxieties as well as taking some medication), but believe me, if I can do it, you can too.
