My illustrated book The White Owl’s Journey To The Stars follows the white owl Zira as she flies through eternity and meets a ray of light coming from Father Sun himself. Together, they meet a sad little frog who has forgotten herself and only speaks with the voices of others.
It’s basically a story about finding your own heart and voice again.
Here’s a little excerpt from the book:
“I am starting to feel insensitive to ask all that again,” the ray of light whispered with three voices at once. “But why are you still using the voices of so many others and never your own?”
The eyes of the frog grew as dull as fog, and her heart fell out of her chest. “Don’t you like the concert I am giving you?” she asked.
“It is most beautiful indeed,” Zira said, “but we would love to hear your own voice and to feel your own essence.”
“But the singing of the others is much more relevant and far more beautiful than my own,” the sad little frog whispered. “It is far more logical to be them.”
“Your logic is most compelling, dear little frog, yet it has a flaw I must tell you urgently. If you always try to feel the world through the skin of another, you will never be able to feel it through your own. And besides the fact that it is a marvellous thing to experience the world through the unique structure of your own skin, you would simply miss out on life itself, and life would miss out on you!”
