I don’t understand the lyrics for the chorus of this song. Why is he looking for her family members, and why does he say that HE is lost? I understand that his wife is making him do stuff, therefore making him her “slave”, but I don’t understand why he has to look for her family or why he is “lost like a lamb”. Why are all her family members always lost? Does that mean he is lost now because he is technically a member of her family? All of the other requests he says she’s making seem like perfectly reasonable things to ask your husband to do, but why is it so important to know that she’s making him look for her lost family members? Is there a specific thing about this woman that makes her family disappear? Does her mother and brother have Alzheimer’s, or are they trying to run away? Even so, why does this responsibility fall on George Jones? The verses only imply simple housework, but even if it’s just that, why does that make him lost? Why does him being lost make him “buggy”? Is he actually lost or is he just lost in the sauce?
