Hello! I am a Law and Economics student at a rather new private institution in South Africa and have ambitions of working in the UK as a commercial lawyer. I am currently in my second year with a 75% average, however my institution does not have much of a reputation. So I wanted to know:

  1. How realistic is my desire to pursue law through an SQE/LLM conversion, and would my efforts be worth it?
  2. Would I still be eligible for a Training contract?
  3. Are there any specific law Universities which would be better suited for law conversion courses?
  4. How likely is it that international students actually manage a sponsorship job as a lawyer in the UK, and is it city dependent? I have been made aware of the level of competition.
  5. Are there any suitable alternative fields which could be suitable if I struggle to secure a legal job?

Thank you in advance!
