Since I moved into my house recently I've been dealing with a seriously antisocial tenant in the rented property next door. Other neighbouring residents are also affected and frustrated, and have confirmed the area was completely peaceful before this tenant arrived.
The issues have been relentless - loud music regularly past midnight, loud banging, shouting and screaming at various hours, power tools being used outside late at night, regular cannabis smoking, and frequent late night visitors arriving at speed. It has significantly impacted sleep, work and general wellbeing. The tenant also has a known history involving violence and drugs which makes direct confrontation feel unsafe.
My options as I see them are:
- Send an anonymous letter to the landlord suggesting a change of tenancy
- Report to Environmental Health
- Sell up and move
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Has sending an anonymous letter to the landlord worked? Any risks I should be aware of?
