We’re getting more and more AI bot posts in this subreddit but I’m not as good as many of you are at clocking them. I usually go look at the profile for comments but if they have hidden their past comments and posts then (on iOS) it will look like they’ve never made any - even though karma indicates that they have and the account is over a year old.
To what extent do regular contributors hide their profiles? How much can I rely on checking for comments?
Some indicators that I know to look for:
- new account
- account name doesn’t look like something a real contributor would choose
- no comments (but see caveat about hidden comments)
- mentions a specific product in a way that seems awkward or unnatural (like Kopiko in a K-Drama)
What am I missing? I feel like I miss the AI-ness most of the time until I read comments. Educate me, please. I don’t want to be this naive anymore.
I don’t use AI for writing text so I think I don’t know as many of the tells since I don’t have as much personal experience. I’ve only been using it for code for about a month.
