Need help choosing a vacation book. Wondering about The Only Good Indians.
So I'm going on a trip and I'm planning on reading a couple books. I've narrowed it down to a handful:
- Song of Kali (Dan Simmons)
- Those Across the River (Christopher Buehlman)
- The Only Good Indians (Stephen Graham Jones)
- Borne (Jeff Vandermeer)
- The Pallbearers Club (Paul Tremblay)
I'm leaning towards The Only Good Indians as it has won a bunch of awards and some people consider it one of the best horror books ever.
However, I have only read one other book by him, Mapping the Interior, and I almost DNF, which is insane because of how short it is. I couldn't stand his writing style and I honestly just thought it was a dumb story. I'm also not super into the whole spooky native american spirits thing.
My question is: If I hated that, will I also hate The Only Good Indians? I'm guessing I will, but wanted to see if that's like a major standout and worth the read no matter what.
