Sin and suffering entered the world because we had free will. God gave us free will so that we could truly love him. In doing this he allows terrible things in the world to happen. Doesn't this make him selfish? He's letting all these things happen/exist just for us loving him.

I don't know if I've phrased this terribly but like as someone who is raised Catholic it's terrible to think that a random kid in 1554 could've died of cancer or something in Australia and never heard about God. What was their death for?
