im a year 10 student choosing vcesubjects in about a month and im really torn about whether to do methods. maths has always been my weakest subject. im currently doing pre-methods, getting below 50 on tests, and even when i study 2+ hours a day leading up to tests, I still fail. because of that, i was planning to drop to general maths for vce
im interested in psychology (possibly clinical neuropsychology or forensic psych) and was considering doing a bachelor of Arts (psychology) at the university of melbourne, partly because I’m more drawn to arts subjects anyway, and bachelor of science requires methods. but my sister thinks I should do methods and “just get a tutor,” and she says doing arts will make me “fall behind,” especially in science research and statistics. im stressing about it and im wondering if thats true. i also don’t want to force methods, do badly, and hurt my atar
are there any ba psychology students (current or past), or anyone familiar with melbournes psych pathways, who felt disadvantaged compared to BSc psych students? will skipping methods actually close major doors for me?
