My best friend from high school and I are now in our 30s. She is constantly talking about the men she is dating and rushes into things with many different men. On my birthday I asked her not to make it about a boy but she ditched my party to go off with a guy and left her phone in the bar and didn’t tell anyone she was leaving, she was sleeping over at my place that night and I was really worried. I had to step out of my own party to search the surrounding streets for her and ultimately found her on the seat of this weird guy’s motorcycle. She cancels plans last minute and there have been times when she says she will reach out and doesn’t even when I say I really need to talk. She always says I’m like a sister to her but I don’t feel comfortable making plans or inviting her over anymore. She makes every hang out about the men she dates and falls in love every other week. Usually these are not high quality men. I have a lot of trauma from male-centered women and I worry I am just putting myself at risk for getting hurt more by being her friend.
