Is There Ever a Right Time to Lower Your Rate?

I have seen people say that when business is slow, that is actually a good time to raise your rate, which seems counterintuitive to me. When tutoring opportunities come to a standstill, shouldn't you actually lower your rate?

I tutor on Wyzant, and I have tried rewriting my profile statement, modifying my subject qualifications, and adjusting my job templates multiple times, with little to no success.

I am not a new tutor on the website. I have provided over 6,000 hours and earned over 2,000 five-star ratings. Has AI finally decimated the tutoring market, or is something else at play?

I would even go so far as to ask are tutors disrespected? From frequent no-shows and ignoring our messages to constant bickering about our hourly rates, I feel a lot of people underestimate what we do.
