Why exactly is Jasmine Choi playing the Daphnis and Chloe suite with the STL symphony? Did something happen to the principal flute?

There are so many pieces for solo flute and orchestra, and they chose an excerpt to feature her? That's the job of the principal flute and frankly I would be offended by this choice if I were the principal. They had to perform that solo probably just as well to get their position anyways.

This also irks me when orchestras hire out a Cellist for Don Quixote.
