Second session playing a wizard and I went grimoire heavy to get lots of toolkit to play with which is fun (though I feel I need to be more creative with their use!).

One thing I have noticed is most of the battlefield control stuff slumber / mysterious mist etc operate relatively short in terms of ranges so very close / close with the attack spells operating basically only in melee.

I was thinking maybe its because Im thinking in terms of d&d where a wizard often sits back and affects things at a distance sort of playstyle whereas in daggerheart it feels like they want to be almost in the front line in amongst the enemy if they want to be using spells as battlefield control especially as ranged great staff attacks are seemingly relatively lacklustre (1d6 damage).

Is this the right sort of way to play a wizard as with inly 5 health they feel a bit squishy if constantly having to be in the melee mix?

Any advice on play style appreciated!
