ACUTE PLACEMENT!

hi fellow nurses!

i'm a diploma of nursing student, i've finished all my classes and have my last upcoming placement (4 weeks) in june!, my previous 3 placements, 2 were in aged care, i learnt nothing, got to practice basically nothing, then i had y speciality placement in a psychiatric hospital, i practiced MSE, progress notes, obs, charting and some basic oral medication administration,

BUT NOW! even though i've done my classes, completed all the theory, i genuinely have no idea what i'm meant to be doing for this acute placement, like my placements haven't prepared me for ward routine at the hospital i'll be going to, like what do i start with apart from handover, medication rounds, obs, general checks, wounds / hygiene okay when that's done, charting, but what do you do apart from that / after that, i know i sound so stupid asking this, but i feel like everyone knows the "Schedule" or "routine" but i just feel underprepared.

because this will be my first time actually in a hospital (not mental health) like proper surgical / medical ward, i don't want to be thought of as a lazy student who doesn't want to work, all i've ever wanted to do is nursing, and i want to be confident in what i'm doing but genuinely feel so underprepared! i've had a patient load, x4 in the adult psych unit so im comfortable with that, but i just don't know what to actually do, like apart from the basic stuff and then emergency situation / emergency care etc, any advice is appreciated!!!!!

ADVICE potential job!

hey everyone!

so i applied for a casual job and have been speaking to the employer, she wants to have a phone call tomorrow, i'm unsure as to what she wants to discuss but surely that means something good!

now i'm a nursing student, i have one last placement in june, it's four weeks 5 days a week 8 hour shifts, now obviously im going to be honest with her, it's now may, my placement is next month but i need a job so bad, and after this placement im going to study further, so i'm not just looking to work for a month and thats it, i want to keep this potential job for a while.

how on earth do i go about discussing this with her without making myself sound like heyyy i just wanna work for a month and then leave, like no i promise you i want to work throughout my education, i just gotta get this placement out the way and then i am available 24/7, like im free weekends during placement but i don't know if that's good enough!! how do i explain that to her without setting myself up for failure / rejection!!

hey guys, i was just wondering if this is something i should start doing, i submit applications online, or hand my resume in person, but mainly online at the moment, I've had my resume checked by family and friends, by employment agencies etc, I'm only 21, and i study part time but currently my availability is 24/7!!!! for example, the past two weeks i've applied to 31 freaking jobs and i'm not hearing back from ANYONE it's absolutely ridiculous, should i start calling after like a week of submitting my application and ask heyyy i submitted an application online, jsut wanted to know how this is progressing? BECAUSE WHY AFTER 30 APPLICATIONS AM I NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE!!!!!!! i am absolutely sick of this, melbourne is an absolute joke, I have two previous jobs one in fast food and one in retail, like i actually cannot comprehend what i'm meant to do, i can't afford to move out, to live, to buy a car, to do anything and i'm sick of it.

hi guys,

i am SO confused, can someone explain what a grad year actually is, what it's like, eg like the first few weeks and how it goes over the course, I have one placement left in my diploma of nursing and then i either do a grad program or straight to RN (bachelors), but I genuinely have absolutely no clue what a grad year actually is, like are you being assessed? is there a facilitator? do you go straight into a full patient load?, I know some of these questions sound stupid, but everyone seems to know exactly what's going on but i have no idea. i would love any and all advice / personal experiences! (also if anyone has done a grad year in mental health please tell me ALL about it!!)

hey guys, im actually loosing hope, i'm only 21, i still live at home in a toxic environment, i don't have a car (because i dont have enough money), anyway i study nursing and i'm done my classes, only have 1 more placement in july and then i can begin working as a nurse, i've been unemployed for almost 2 years now, i have applied for every single job you could think of with no results AT ALL, in two freakin years i've had like 2 interviews, ive had my resume checked by employers, by employment agencies, friends / family, I've worked 2 retail jobs previously but i am genuinely loosing my mind, like i literally got rejected from maccas, EVEN THOUGH i've worked there previously, seriously what ways are people making money? i'm currently on centerlink, but with my home situation its just not enough money to live and save at the same time, i'm so stuck! any advice is welcome! this is ridiculous!
