I’m almost done with my novel (and a few rounds of edits) and I want to start submitting to agents and hopefully traditionally publish.

Would you recommend giving the manuscript to an editor first and submitting after or submitting it just to the point of where I believe I’ve gotten it to its best on my own?

What is usually preferred in the industry and with agents?

For context: the book is a contemporary romance
