Classic cant see the woods for the trees situation for me here. Im divorced 50, rent my home in the UK (option to live overseas at anytime), have two school/college age kids. Im on target to achieve £500k in savings by the end of this year. I dont plan on working past 55 if i can be financially secure by then. My primary aim is to provide for my kids when they become young adults - to put them on the path to home ownership. My plan was to buy numerous BTL through limited company so that by the time they’re old enough to move out, they can move into houses with significant equity. Everything im reading lately screams dont BTL. Ive been bitten hard by investments in the past. Now i have £40k in s&s isa, some crypto thats 50% down, no pension. The other option i was considering was to invest the bulk of my savings into a few ETFs and let it compound and then hand that over to my kids when i kick the bucket. This would mean me working until 60 so not exactly FIRE. One other thing thats just occurred to me, has anyone coached their school/college age kids into a FIRE mindset and how did they achieve it?
