Locked out of IBKR due to old 2FA phone — what can I do?
Before I start panicking, I’d really appreciate any advice.
I have an IBKR account that I originally set up using a phone number that wasn’t actually mine—it belonged to the company I used to work for. When I left that job, I returned the company phone and number.
Before doing that, I made sure to update my phone number everywhere in IBKR with my new personal number, which I had already purchased a couple of weeks earlier. However, it seems I forgot to update it in the two-factor authentication settings.
Now I’m locked out. IBKR is asking me to verify my identity by tapping a notification on my “main device”… which is still the old phone I no longer have access to.
I couldn’t find anything helpful on their website, and I haven’t been able to reach customer support by phone (is it actually available?). I am based in Switzerland.
At this point, I genuinely don’t know what to do. Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows how to recover access?
