i read a fic a couple of months ago on ao3, basically a very graphic one where ilya dies in the plane crash and shane and thr rest of the family see the whole process of getting the bodies out on TV, its really gruesome. There is also a subplot i guess, hollanov want to adopt a kid from the summer camp ( pretty sure the name is atlas or something along those lines), but shane never gets the final answer about the adoption from ilya, so he goes to the only survivor, troy, but he doesn’t know anything and later dies. The kid is also with shane thr whole time, occasionally calling him dad. Shane goes to see the body and is met with alexei (andrei) and they both spend some time saying their final goodbye to ilya together. Later shane takes his life and theres a short ending about the kid they wanted to adopt playing hockey and then crashing his car and dying. Absolutely nuts, i know, i might have fallen into psychosis after reading too many hr fics and made this shit up at four in the morning cause im not sure who in their right mind would write this absolute avalanche of trauma
